I've been working on this one for years and have decided it's ready now... "Escape from Inaka 1.0"
Available one my website (https://djgamble.net/) and also the Macintosh Garden (dunno if they like posting links as they seem to hide from search engine indexing).
In short this concept started with me wanting to make a silly game out of my shoe box of early to mid 2000's photos of living in rural Japan. Using a mixture of techniques I imported photos and memories into the game (using the World Builder engine) and then added N/S/E/W style navigation between the scenes.
Life happened and things stagnated, then re-started multiple times. Once I had imported the entire world that I wanted, I added various quests and easter eggs. It's now at a stage where I'm comfortable to share it with others.
Is it the best game ever? Hell no. However it's a personal project and from a creative perspective I've always wanted to have my own World Builder game.
Will do a YouTube video or something later but my ideal playing setup for this is my SE/30 with some gentle music playing in the background on a 1970's/1980's, Sansui amplifier. Maybe the kind of music you would find playing in a Japanese listening lounge while sipping on a Jack Rose or Martini.
ScummVM support should be happening soonish. I've played an early beta using a daily build of ScummVM and have told the (extremely busy) maintainer of the WAGE engine that I'd like to have this game supported officially. There's a few steps for dumping the binary while preserving the resource fork and then adding the game to their codebase.
Anyhow, I hope somebody picks it up and has a go! I'm considering releasing a limited run of boxed editions on floppy disks if people are interested. Have collected enough floppies and found a suitable, generic hard case. Fun.
