There’s a new Nintendo 64 emulator on the block. I don’t know how Daedalus compares to Mupen64Plus or SixtyForce, as I couldn’t get it to run after compiling, but it looks to be under active development. You can grab the source from the Daedalus GitHub page. Let us know how it performs if you get it working.
ScummVM, an interpreter for dozens of classic point-and-click adventure games, has been updated to version 1.6.0. This release adds four new engines, which adds support for such titles as Eye of the Beholder and The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime. Other changes include improved support for Macintosh versions of a few games, an update to the Roland MT-32 emulation code, a grid chooser for save games, three new translations, and more. Arcade emulator MAME reached version 0.149 a few days ago. As usual, this update includes a raft of fixes, additions, and tweaks. There’s a detailed change log if you want to see precisely what’s new. You can grab the source code from the MAMEdev site, or grab 32-bit or 64-bit Intel binaries from the SDLMAME site.
Almost-everything emulator MESS was also updated to version 0.149, with a similarly-exhaustive change log. You can grab its source code via either the MESS Wiki or MAMEdev site, and download binaries via the SDLMAME/SDLMESS site.

QMC2, a MAME and MESS frontend/launcher/organiser, has been updated to version 0.39. The highlight is a cool new GUI, but there’s a long list of fixes, improvements, and additions in the change log. Get it from the QMC2 download page.
There’s a release candidate available for MSX emulator CocoaMSX version 1.3. The final 1.3 release was delayed while the developer implements joystick button mapping, but for now you can enjoy a number of bug fixes, Mac gamepad support, improved error handling, and support for compressed system ROM sets. Sinclair ZX Spectrum emulator zxsp has been updated to version 0.8.0pre15. This new release includes GIF file exporting, which is showcased on the project blog by an animated Weird Science overscan demo and an 8-bit-ified black and white James Marsters. There have also been a few other neat new features since our last roundup, which are detailed on the zxsp blog. Downloads are via this page.
Spectrum fans are spoilt this month, with Fuse 1.1.0 finally releasing two-and-a-half years after 1.0.0. The update comes with loads of new features and improvements—far more than I can list here—but also removes all ROM images from the distribution that don’t have explicit permission from the relevant rights holders. PowerPC Mac emulator Sheepshaver has a new Intel-only test build available. New features listed are sparsebundle support, cursor-grabbing toggle, and a window-full-screen toggle. Head over to the E-Maculation forums for more information and a download link.
Micro64, a highly-accurate Commodore 64 emulator, has been updated to version 1.00.2013.05.11 Build 714. Changes include support for exporiting BMP screenshots and AVI videos of the emulator display, plus a few bug fixes. Get it from the micro64 & hyper64 website.
Java-based PSP emulator JPCSP continues to pick up multiple automatic build revisions a week. Keep your eye on the JPCSP Live Downloads section or main webpage for more.
PlayStation emulator PCSX-Reloaded build 85183 was released last week. You can grab it and find more information at ConsoleEmu, or head over to the official PCSX-Reloaded website for background on the emulator.
MacFCEU, an NES/Famicom emulator for older Macs (running System 7.1 or later), has been updated to version 0.8a6. This release adds high-bank MMC5 support, file selection for zip archives, and a number of bug fixes. Get it from the MacFCEU SourceForge page.
Open-source IA-32 (x86) PC emulator Bochs version 2.6.2 has been released. Changes were concentrated this time on CPU emulation; see the change log for details. You can learn more about Bochs, including which CPU models and operating systems it supports, at its website.
