Classic Sierra adventure game Space Quest 2 has been remade by Infamous Adventures with 320x200 resolution, a 16-bit colour palette, and over 4000 lines of recorded dialogue, along with allowances for mouse-only control. Team VSB have also released a feature-length Space Quest sequel called Vohaul Strikes Back. The SQII remake is currently Windows only, although a Mac version should be coming soon. Vohaul Strikes Back is Windows only.


OpenEmulator now supports the 1977 Apple II. The latest update (1.0.2) to the module-based emulator supports early Apple II hardware with cycle-accurate video emulation and joystick/mouse support. Atari 2600 VCS emulator Stella has been updated to version 3.5. Stella is now donationware. You can donate many things other than money—there's a list of suggestions provided on the Stella website. Changes include improvements to joystick management code, restructuring of the OpenGL code, and a new default snapshot directory, amongst many others. See the Stella news page for the full list. Atari ST/STE/TT/Falcon emulator Hatari was updated to version 1.6.0 on New Years Day. Changes include more accurate FDC and microwire clock emulation, SCSI class 1 command support for drives larger than 1GB, better filters and model for sound emulation, and more. Early Macintosh emulator Mini vMac has reached version 3.2.3 final. Changes since 3.1.3 include improved timing accuracy, while new features include AutoSlow, which automatically reduces emulation speed to 1x if there's no activity for some time, and auto scrolling, which involves the emulated screen scrolling to always keep the mouse pointer in view if the emulated screen is larger than the real screen. Atari 800 emulator Atari800MacX version 4.6.0 has been released. This update fixes issues with arrow keys in the full-screen menu and with mapping the tab. return, and delete keys to the joystick when using international key mappings. The developer warns that this may be the last release supporting PPC, OS X 10.4, and possibly also OS 10.5. Get it at the official Atari800MacX website.


SpeedofMac's tireless work building the latest source of PlayStation emulator PCSX-Reloaded continues unabated. Recent changes include improved BIN/CUE and plugin handling. Head over to SpeedofMac's website for a download, or drop by the PCSX-Reloaded CodePlex site for more information about the emulator.


RPCEmu, an Acorn Risc PC and A7000 emulator, has been updated to version 0.8.9. Changes include added support for 256MB RAM in emulated machines, a new option to reduce CPU usage, and a number of bugfixes. See the changelog for full details. Mac users will have to compile the source code themselves, which can be downloaded from the RPCEmu website.


DOSBox front-end Dapplegrey has been updated to version 2.3.0. The main change is a redesigned graphics area, although the changelog also lists a new "Set values to default" menu item and a "Clear entry" button in the Edit Listenport section of Network settings. Get it from the official Dapplegrey page.


CrossOver Games has been updated to version 10.3.0, with the sole change relevant to Mac users being patch fixes for World of Warcraft. Check out the official CrossOver Games website for more information about the software wrapper.


Open-source IA-32 PC emulator Bochs has been updated to version 2.5.1. The changes file lists bugfixes in CPU and I/O device emulation, along with fixes to compilation errors and a few other things. Open-source x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualisation tool VirtualBox continues its monthly tradition of maintenance releases. See here for a list of changes included with version 4.1.8.


Sharp X68000 and X68030 emulator XM6i has been updated to version 0.33, with a lengthy list of changes (link in Japanese). Check out the official XM6i website for more information (in Japanese) and a download link.


Arcade emulator MAME and its Mac-specific port, SDLMAME, have been updated to version 0.144u5. Click here to see what's new. As always, you can download source code directly from the MAME website, or grab a precompiled binary (OS X 10.6 or later) from the SDLMAME site.


Nintendo Wii and Gamecube emulator Dolphin is back to daily updates. The latest build at the time of writing is 3.0-371, which can be downloaded from the Dolphin download page. The latest stable build (3.0) is now six months old. Check out the official Dolphin website for more details about the emulator.
