TOPIC: The YouTube Thread

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years, 4 months ago #2774

This had me laughing. So dumb, so funny.

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years, 1 month ago #3161

So I got a Kinect the other day and as a very quick test tried this. I'm not planning to use it for gaming (I don't have an Xbox) but it's pretty useful for tracking in installation pieces etc.

I'm using Nestopia to emulate and I've borrowed your NES controller image, Mucx, I hope that's cool (don't worry, I'm not distributing it or anything!)

You could have far better reaction time if you could get the software to track say, one hand in an L shape pointing up for neutral for left/right movement, and the other arm for jump. To increase speed (the run button), you could go L shaped down and left/right for movement. It's faster and less tiring than leaning to move.

Just a thought.

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years, 1 month ago #3163

I could give that a try! So far I've experimented with a few different methods, this being by far the least energy consuming. I've tried jumping to jump too: very tiring.

If I get some more time, I'll develop it further but it's just a quick play really!

Why not just use the original NES motion controller?

Because the Kinect (which is what he's developing for) doesn't use a glove, it uses the entire body. And the Power Glove has no way to communicate with the Kinect.

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years, 1 month ago #3166

Ok, just sold the Kinect and bought a Power Glove. It's just so...intuitive.

My hand didn't fit in that damn thing even as an 8 year old.

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years, 1 month ago #3168

I hated the fact that after only a minute or two my hand was sweating like crazy inside that thing. Made it feel gross after very little time of ownership.

He does movies. He does cartoons. He does video games. He does pop stars. He does internet memes. Oh, and he takes requests.

All songs available hi-fi free on the artist's website.

Modern AAA audio treatment of some classics which were obviously lacking in sound design.

Re: The YouTube Thread 12 years ago #3237

That's awesome. I particularly loved the Pac-Man and Asteroids bits.

Seanstar,

I'm assuming that each of the five floppy drives is being fed a single channel from the NSF file for MegaMan (Pulse 1/2, Triangle, Noise, PCM Wave)?

It'd be sick to hear a seven floppy rendition of Akumajou Densetsu.

Speaking of Megaman remixes:

There's some intermediate software involved; not sure how the mixer arranged it. I'm guessing it's not 1:1 since there are non-NES themes in there, some tempos are off, and some lines needed to be octave-shifted. But the guy has mixes of up to 8-drive rigs if you check the related vids.

Hold on to something.

Someone pass me a towel, I think that's my brain melting out of my ear.

What was that, Squirrel? Something about an announcement and a choice of days?
